Enjoy a Weekend of Historic Racing at the HSRCA Spring Festival

The Historic Sports and Racing Car Association of NSW will head to Wakefield Park over the weekend of the 28th and 29th of September to celebrate the return of spring with the 2019 Spring Festival.

Headlined by the mighty Sports Sedans as well a packed field of Group S sports cars, a Regularity enduro event and MG Muster, the event will see cars from the 1930s all the way through to the ‘90s take to the track.

The meeting will host the fourth and final round of the Australian Historic Sports Sedans’ 2019 John McCormack Trophy series. This series continues to go from strength to strength, and we’re looking forward to a great weekend of motorsport as they scrap for Sports Sedan glory.

Group S historic sports cars is one of the most dynamic categories in historic motorsport today, consistently bringing maximum density fields to compete. Combined with Sports Sedans, Group N touring cars and impressively-varied Regularity and Super Sprint categories, this should make for a great meeting for fans of tin top motorsport.

That’s not to say those with a passion for single seater race cars will be left wanting – quite the opposite. Rear-engined race cars of the ‘60s and ‘70s as well as higher-capacity ‘wings ‘n slicks’ cars and one-off ‘specials’ will make their presence felt, as will the feisty race cars of Formula Ford and Formula Vee.

All historic sports and racing cars are welcome, and are sure to be beautifully presented and driven with all the vigor of their glory days.

The circuit will sing with the spectacular sounds of motorsport from around 9AM each day. Saturday morning will kick off with qualifying before the lunch break signals time to shift into top gear for race events that will continue through to the afternoon of race day Sunday. The MG Car Club Canberra will put on a feature display on Sunday and head out for a demonstration run when the circuit quietens down for lunch.

Situated in Goulburn’s beautiful rolling hillsides, Wakefield Park is the perfect spectator’s circuit. Its open layout allows you to catch all the action on the track from one spot, and it also offers opportunities to get right up close to the action. With its relaxed and friendly ambience, easy access and parking, it’s a great place to take in a race meeting.

The historic motorsport community is welcoming and friendly and most love to chat – especially about cars or our (not at all exaggerated) feats of daring-do. Make sure to take a break from races to explore the pits and paddock, say ‘Hi!’ to the drivers and teams and get up close to the cars.

The Spring Festival is a family friendly event and relaxation spaces, food and drink and activities for kids and families will be available. Spectator tickets will be available at the gate each day. Kids under 16 get in free, adult tickets are $20 for a day or $30 for a weekend pass and concession tickets are $15 or $25 for the weekend. HSRCA members present your membership card for free entry.
