The HSRCA is supporting CARnivale this Australia Day, the 26th of January, 2016, with a display of historic race cars to suit the venue’s significant Australian motorsport heritage.
2016 marks the first year that CARnivale will be held at Parramatta Park, which boasts an impressive motorsport history that not many know about. From 1952 until 1955 Parramatta Park was home to race meetings that drew enormous crowds to watch cars and motorcycles race around a picturesque and exciting circuit.
The events drew top Australian drivers, including several who went on to build impressive motorsport careers, such as Sir Jack Brabham and Ron Tauranac. Seven of these drivers went on to win the Australian Grand Prix a total of twelve times between them.
The Club display this Australia Day will feature eight historic racing and sports cars, including two similar to those which ran in Parramatta Park’s motorsport heyday.
We’ll be joined by some six hundred other vehicles of all shapes, sizes and vintages for a magic celebration of our national day and Australia’s motoring culture and history.
