We’re pleased to announce that entry to the 2021 HSRCA Sydney Classic, to be held over the weekend of June 11 to 13 at Sydney Motorsport Park in honour of the late Ron Tauranac AO, is now open.
All drivers are welcome to the Sydney Classic, which will offer races for all of our usual fifth category vehicles as well as Heritage Touring Cars, Australian 5 Litre Touring Cars and MG Racing Australia. Speed events are also offered for vehicles manufactured up to the 1990s and invited cars deemed compatible with those groups. Private practice will be offered on Friday the 11th of June and will be hosted by the circuit.
Honouring the late Ron Tauranac, the Sydney Classic is set to be the biggest celebration of historic motor sport that Sydney has seen in some years. To recognise Tauranac’s contribution to Australian motor racing, a collection of significant Brabham and RALT race cars will be involved in displays, feature races and parade laps. Amongst these is Sir Jack Brabham’s Tauranac-designed 1966 Formula 1 World Championship BT-19, which has made its way to Sydney with great thanks to Repco.
We are pleased to also welcome the Australian 5 Litre Touring Car Association to an HSRCA meeting for the first time. The association races early V8 Supercars that competed in Australia between 1993 and 2002.
It has been a few years since we were joined by the iconic Group C & A Australian touring cars of the Heritage Touring Cars series and we’re looking forward to seeing them on track again. As we are the awesome MGs of MG Racing Australia, who first raced with us in 2019.
With classic British sports cars able to run in MG Racing by invitation, some Group S entrants may wish to double enter and run with MG Racing as well as Group S. You are most welcome to do so! Please double enter the car in the MG class. Double-entering is subject to spaces available and final approval by MG Racing.
We are thrilled to finally be able to welcome spectators back to our historic race meetings for the first time since COVID-19 entered our lives in 2020 and would greatly appreciate you bringing a few friends along to enjoy the meeting. Remember that all entries receive two free spectator passes, so please do take advantage of that.
Spectator passes are available online, and will be available at the gate each day.
Finally, please note that from the Sydney Classic, the HSRCA will be implementing the refund policy set out in the supplementary regulations by charging the $50 admin fee for any refund due to an approved withdrawal.
Thank you for your support! We look forward to seeing you again at the Sydney Classic, Jun 11-13 at Sydney Motorsport Park.
Yours in motor sport,
The HSRCA Race Committee.
