November Social Dinner with David Berthon

We are pleased to have as our next guest speaker the esteemed motoring journalist David Berthon, who will speak at our usual evening venue of the Denistone Sports Club, on Wednesday 23rd November from 6:00pm for dinner, with David’s presentation from about 7:00pm.

Recently, David completed a long-term restoration of his 1928 Rolls Royce Phantom 1 and took it to MotorClassica in Melbourne, followed by a grand tour in company with a dozen other Phantoms in Victoria. Dave Williamson will be running a photo montage of the MotorClassica cars – and of Rolls Royce Phantoms.

David will then be discussing his observations on his road testing of many recent cars, the future of motoring and the coming electric vehicle revolution (or is it a religion?)

Do not think you will be hearing a passionate argument for the electric/battery obsession of the media. If, like me, you are a bit cynical on this political trend to abolish internal combustion engines in the near future, you will be even more grumpy upon hearing David’s views!

At the recent AGM we asked for a straw poll for dinner versus lunch social meetings, and dinner-time won the vote. However we will try to conclude the meetings early so that members can get home to far and wide.
