The Historic Sports and Racing Car Association of NSW, in conjunction with the Australian Racing Drivers’ Club, is organising the Sydney Retro Speedfest at Sydney Motorsport Park on 6-7 June 2015 and we would be delighted to have you join us.
This second running of the Speedfest is once again designed to showcase the best of classic racing with plenty of track time to ensure value for money for all enthusiasts, competitors and spectators alike. The meeting will be conducted on the Gardner (traditional Grand Prix) circuit, which provides a challenging and entertaining mixture. Each category will be allocated a qualifying session and four races over the two days, including a trophy race on the Sunday. In addition, a large collection of historic Formula One cars will be on display and participate in demonstration hot-laps.
Those who competed in the inaugural 2014 event gave plenty of positive feedback, and we are happy to announce the TV coverage to the big screen and monitors on site, live streaming to an internet connection, and broadcast of a highlights package to be shown later on SPEEDWEEK (SBS) and FOXTEL, will again be features in 2015. A DVD of highlights will be available for purchase at low cost by competitors, with details to be announced after the event.
With an estimated 80 minutes of track time available to each category, and the bonus of TV and live coverage exposure, the Sydney Retro Speedfest offers competitors exceptional value for participating in an established top level event. Despite increasing costs we have managed to keep the entry fee at the 2014 level.
Entries for the event are preferred through the CAMSEventEntry online system on the CAMS website (www.meecamsau.com). If you have problems completing entries online, or if you require a paper entry to be sent to you, please contact the HSRCA office on 02 9988 4743 for assistance and directions.
Please read the supplementary regulations prior to completing your entry form. In particular you should note that no vehicles other than competition cars will be permitted to park in the paddock area at the rear of the pit lane garages. Numbered spaces (each 10m x 3m in size) will be available in the skid pan area for those who seek to locate there – each space is sufficient for a race car and support vehicle.
Private practice will be available (at extra cost) on the Friday prior to the meeting. Arrangements to participate and payment may be completed at driver sign-on on that day.
If sponsors can be arranged for individual categories or races, competitors may be required to display the naming rights sponsor’s logo on their vehicles in a specified position for the duration of the event, subject of course to CAMS approval. Details of any such arrangements will be included in the Further Supplementary Regulations.
We thank you in anticipation of your entry and look forward to you joining us on 6-7 June. With your valued support the Speedfest event will continue to grow and become a flagship feature of the Queen’s Birthday weekend in each year’s calendar.
With every good wish for a memorable weekend of classic motorsport,
The Sydney Retro Speedfest Committee.
