As we get ready to head to Wakefield Park for the Spring Festival this September 22 & 23, head back in time to 2009 for an M & O race with Ed Holly in his 1965 Brabham BT15.
The video is from Sunday the 20th of September, 2009 and captures the last race of the spring Wakefield Park historic race meeting. In it, Ed follows Don Thallon and Kim Shearn, both driving 1100cc Formula Juniors. Harry Hickling was just ahead of the trio and running in third.
Ed’s driving a 1965 Brabham BT15 with a 997cc Cosworth MAE motor and four speed box to suit 1965 Formula 3 regulations in the UK and Europe. The Juniors he’s running with are 1100cc cars with five speed boxes.
“To get the best out of the MAE it has to be kept between 7,000 and 9,500 RPM. Under 6,500 RPM it has virtually no power, but at 9,500 it develops 120bhp – not bad for a pushrod 1-litre engine which was based around the Ford Anglia Unit.” – Ed Holly
Enjoy the footage, and make sure to join us at Wakefield Park over the 22nd and 23rd of September, 2018, for a magic weekend of historic motorsport!
Thanks to Ed Holly for sharing the footage!
