The Council of Motor Club’s 2018 Shannons Sydney Classic was a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and make a few new ones in the company of an incredible collection of motoring machinery.
Sunday the 12th of August presented a fine winter’s day for the seven HSRCA members who represented the club at the event. It was an early start, but we had an excellent position at the entrance to Sydney Motorsport Park’s main paddock and the team did a brilliant job with our display.
Our small, but enthusiastic group included:
- Bruce Smith, Elva Courier
- Andy Purvis, Ford Escort
- Kevil Walters, WRM
- John Pymble, 1989 Reynard Formula ford
- Frank Arronis, Ralt
- Paul Savoy, Cooper Bobtail
- Daniel Bando, Elvin NG Formula Vee
Thank you to everyone who helped to make the event a successful one!
We enjoyed many interesting conversations throughout the day and were pleased to meet plenty of people who were interested in our cars, the club and sport in general. Let’s hope we inspired some new people to get involved!
While they may not initially seem as compelling as our more action-packed historic motor racing meetings, display days are a lot of fun. They’re an opportunity to display your pride and joy, without the pressure of a full race meeting, and are relaxed, social days shared with like minded people.
The club attends a handful such meetings each year. If you’re interested, please consider displaying your car and helping us to promote our wonderful sport!
