The forecast was looking good and did not disappoint for the 2019 Shannons Sydney Classic, held over the weekend on Sunday the 18th of August. We were presented with a spectacular winters day and a huge assortment of cars in attendance at the event.
The HSRCA formed a fantastic “butcher’s picnic grid” of six cars. We were located in prime position next to the medical building by the dummy grid on the way in to the event.
As we brought the cars in on trailers, we were required to be in position earlier than the ‘normal’ cars. This meant a very early arrival, but also that once in position we were able to watch all the cars arrive for the event. It was quite an amazing assortment of cars that we saw roll in.
We had a lot of interest in our race cars and club. Being adjacent to the Shannons display, I was asked several times if our cars were for sale! Although a few of them were, my little Elfin Vee certainly was not!
A big thank you and well done to our members Bruce Mansell, Wayne Wilson, Wes Dayton, Percy Hunter, Paul Armstrong, Bruce Smith and John Bando for representing the HSRCA and helping to ensure the continued strength of historic motorsport.
See you next time on the “grid”,
Daniel Bando
