We’re Heading to Wings Over Illawarra and Unique Cars Rolling 30

In 2020 we’re expanding the events we attend as a club, starting with Wings Over Illawarra in May and Unique Cars Rolling 30 in June. Read on for a few details, with thanks to Daniel Bando who is kindly looking after our participation.

Wings Over Illawarra

Sunday, the 3rd of May, 2020

This is the annual air show at Albion Park. There is a classic car display and the HSRCA committee has chosen Sunday to gather as a group and display our special cars.

You can register now via the Wings Over Illawarra website at wingsoverillawarra.com.au
Select ‘GET INVOLVED’ and then ‘CLASSIC VEHICLE REGISTRATION’. Every classic car registered for display will get the driver in for free (any extra passengers will need a general admission ticket). Please read all information before registering.

As well as road going classics including club plated cars, I’m hopeful we will get a handful of race cars for display as well. The organisers will accommodate our trailers.

The aim of the day is is to get our classic cars out on the road, display our cars as a club and enjoy a social day watching an air show.

So that we can have some ideas of numbers, could you please e-mail us once you have registered for the display: web@hsrca.com.

Unique Cars Rolling 30

Sunday, the 14th of June, 2020

I attended this event last year in an effort to promote our club and it was a great experience.

The day was essentially a moving car display. Cars included road classics generally 30 years and older, race cars and one open wheeler- my Lotus 51.

Entrants were allowed track time on the Amaroo circuit. Passengers were allowed as well. Speed was limited for road cars. There were race cars sessions with race licensed drivers allowed to take passengers for a “brisk” run. This would be ideal for many of our members with cars with two seats. You can take your loyal pit crew and family members for a spin. They could in turn drive your car in the road cars sessions if you so desired.

While not at race speeds, I enjoyed exercising my Lotus open wheeler. The bonus was I had three sessions on the track to myself!

Entry details will be out soon. Please diarise this date and have a look at this link to give you an idea about the day.

Regards,
Daniel
