On Sunday the 9th of August, a small group of HSRCA members got together at Peninsula Sports Car Services in Brookvale for an early morning coffee and catch-up. Read on for a recap of the day and a few photos, with thanks to Daniel Bando.
After a wet Friday and Saturday and with a grim forecast for Sunday, I cracked my blinds at 6am to find the world still too dark to know what the weather was doing. So, I headed out just before 7 to pick up the pastries in the family wagon. By then, I could tell that the morning was going to be fine, so I headed home to take out my little Clubbie. Freshly loaded with coffee machine and pastries, I headed across the city to Peninsula Sports Car Services in Brookvale.
On arrival, Geoff Morse and team were ready to go. The workshop had lots of interesting cars to see and admire and Richard Caller proudly showed us the new MGB Group S car that he has painstakingly put together over the last year. It certainly looked and sounded the goods.
A steady stream of registered members arrived with their sports cars for a wander through the workshop. The time was well spent getting to know each other and sharing stories over coffee and pastries. It was a great morning and what I consider a winning formula.
Many thanks to Geoff Morse, Richard Caller and Peter Rose for setting up for today and manning the BBQ.
In the end, the weather forecasters were right – I made it home just in time to beat the rain with just a few drops on the windscreen.
We’d like to continue offering these social events as the conditions and regulations allow. So, if you have a interesting idea or location for future events, please let me know.
Regards,
Daniel Bando
The day was a welcomed opportunity to view some great cars being restored / built by a couple of dedicated classic sport car enthusiasts. The additional opportunity to catch up with other like minded club members just added to the day. I hope that we have some more soon and congratulations to Daniel for putting it all together.
