Video: Welcoming Spencer Martin as Club Patron at the Launch of his Book

Earlier this year, on Tuesday the 2nd of March, 2021, we held a social meeting to welcome Spencer Martin, HSRCA Patron, to his new role in the club and celebrate the launch of his book ‘Historic Ferrari and Grand Prix Cars – My Life by Spencer Martin’. Video from that meeting is now available online, and you can enjoy it below!

We took the opportunity to hear from the man himself about racing for Scuderia Veloce, the day he beat Norm Beechey, why he didn’t pursue an F1 career and more, with a question and answer session and some social activities following. It was a thoroughly enjoyable opportunity catch up with our friends club while also meeting Spencer and enjoying some stories from his motor sport career.

Enjoy the video below.

  2. A very nice story from a very nice guy. I chatted with him in the pits at Amaroo one day. He was warming up the 250LM in the pits. I slid over the barrier and he was happy to talk whilst warming the sump oil c. 30ltrs I think. My mate was holding my camera and he snapped a shot, which I still drool over. Spencer was focused on watching the guages whilst chatting but I squatted beside that glorious beast for about 10 mins till she was warm enough to take for a blast around Amaroo, not the perfect circuit for such a brute of a thing, but Spencer was able to do it without incident.
