We have a group of HSRCA members attending the ARDC’s Test and Tune day on Sydney Motorsport Park’s GP Circuit on Friday the 11th of October. The event requires a few more entries to get off the ground, so why not come along and get some laps in ahead of next month’s Summer Festival?
The event is open to any circuit-licensed competitor, and road and race vehicles either cars or bikes are welcome. Sessions will be organised by license and vehicle, and a discounted rate is available for ARDC competitors and life members.
In particular, they’re looking for a few more tin tops on a Motorsport Australia Speed license, and more open wheelers on a Motorsport Australia Circuit license. Entries are required by Friday the 5th of October.
Entry is available via the ARDC at Humanitix here.
Access to the SMP circuit for and bump in on Thursday afternoon prior to HSRCA historic race meetings has long been a problem as the circuit is always rented out by the ARDC so we line up at the entrance gate like like ”expectant fathers” often well after 5.00 pm or later. Nobody is happy.
Some competitors have technically difficult cars to race and have a lot of paraphernalia and tools to unload so they can make the 1st practice session on Friday thus allowing time during the day to rectify any problems and also run in brakes and sometimes engines etc.
The interstate and out of town competitors need somewhere to park their trailers and/or transporters and not in their hotel;/motel car parks which are not equipped for such vehicles. and I have discussed this at length with President Wilson recently who is looking for a better solution as Thursday access is most important to some of us.
