2020’s 25th Anniversary Historic Leyburn Sprints
August 22 - August 23
Celebrating the 1949 Australian Grand Prix at Leyburn, the Sprints is one of Queensland’s premier historic motorsport events.
The 1.0 km street course, which has been re-surfaced by BORAL in recent years, has a smooth, clean surface and smooth edges and run-offs suitable for older cars. Each year the Sprints attracts around 10,000 visitors. It’s renowned for its welcoming laid-back atmosphere, combined with excellent organisation.
The offering of off-track attractions and facilities continues to grow. In 2019 our Legends of Motorsport program featured great names including Colin Bond, Dick Johnson, John French, Kevin Bartlett, Bob Holden Fred and Christine Gibson, Bruce Richardson, Bill Gates, Jim Richards, Bruce Garland and Steven Johnson. The drivers enjoyed such a great reception from spectators that we hope to have them back again in 2020, along with some “new” famous old names.
Official entries are expected to open in April/May on the event website www.historicleyburnsprints.com.au, but meanwhile we’ll welcome any enquiry from HRSCA members interested in competing. There are many classes to accommodate cars of all ages and types, there are classes and trophies for all CAMS log book classes and non-log booked.
