Join Us this April for the HSRCA Autumn Race Meeting

Our 2017 Autumn historic race meeting will be held over the weekend of the 8th and 9th of April 2017 at Wakefield Park. We’re looking for good mates to go racing with, and that means you!

You are cordially invited to attend our forthcoming meeting at Wakefield Park on the 8th and 9th of April for a weekend of historic motor sport in good company.

We will cater for Historic (5th category) cars up to an including Group QR and we will offer one or two grids to cars of the historic period that have been modified, and potentially some more current cars.

Categories may be combined to form grids of 20 or more cars. The program will be designed to provide an hour or more of track time and the number of races offered will reflect category preferences.

Races, Regularity trials and a Supersprint will be offered, the latter to provide an opportunity for cars that do not fit traditional Regularity criteria. In doing this we plan to provide an opportunity for a wide variety of cars, including some later model cars, to run with us and their drivers be introduced to the joys and importance of historic motor racing and its community.

We are keen to hear from people interested in the Supersprint. If you are interested, please advise David Ellis (jochda@bigpond.net.au).

We would also like to build on the successful Tasman Tour for Formula Junior cars and offer at least one race for them alone if numbers are sufficient. If it is not possible to field a grid then we will aim for the September meeting.

We will, of course, continue with the following longstanding events:

  • Championship or series rounds for our usual categories
  • Give someone else a go theme encouraged by discounted entry for the second driver
  • Commentator’s award for best driving performance in each category over the weekend

The HSRCA may hire the circuit on Friday which will mean that private practice will be for HSRCA meeting entrants only. It also means that garages and carports will be available on Friday to entrants to our meeting.

The HSRCA member entry fee discount will be increased. When using CAMS EE ensure you mark the HSRCA as your first club.

Wakefield Park has traditionally been an opportunity for a weekend away with friends who enjoy motorsport and this year we will be endeavouring to retain that character and also provide more supporting activity.

Entries are scheduled to open on 3 February 2017 and close on 24 March 2017. When entries open on February 3, please enter via CAMS event entry. If that is difficult for you, an entry form will be made available for you on the Club website.

Please contact us if you expect to arrive after hours or if you have motorised accommodation with self-contained ablution and wish to enquire about camping.

Wishing you the best for 2017,
Richard Cardew
