An Update on One Raceway and our Return to Goulburn Race Weekend

Today we spoke with One Raceway management to review progress in advance of opening entries for our proposed September 27 – 29th Spring Festival and came to the unfortunate conclusion that it will not be able to go ahead as planned.

Yesterday was a milestone for the circuit, with the first track activity since the closure. Motorcycle racers Troy Corser and Tom Toparis and racing driver Cameron Hill took to the track in order to offer feedback and help in determining the ideal locations for kerbs and track limit markings.

Reviewing the feedback from yesterday’s test session and the list of tasks remaining before their scheduled Australian Superbike Championship meeting in October, the One Raceway management team came to the conclusion that they are struggling to meet their targets. In keeping with our agreed go/no-go timeframe, the circuit management have decided that opening entries and redistributing efforts to focus on the HSRCA event on September 27th will compromise their chances of the circuit being complete to run a successful Australian Superbike Championship meeting.

We are in discussions with the circuit about possible future event dates, either later in 2024 or early 2025, and the HSRCA committee will be considering all options over the next week in order to avoid clashes with already scheduled historic racing events. We will advise once a suitable date has been selected.

We should all be grateful for the efforts of our race secretaries, Robyn and Noel Bryen, and clerk of course Jess Nicholson for the preliminary work done in preparing for our return to racing in Goulburn. Their feedback and experience has been gratefully received by the team at One Raceway. And a special thanks to vice president Nick Mansell for his great work with the team at One Raceway which has positioned us well for future events.

While it is disappointing that we won’t be the test event for the new circuit, the club has had a red hot go at it, and we look forward to inviting entries to our first event once confirmed.
