We’re back from an awesome historic racing event, and that means it’s time to kick back and reminisce about a sunny weekend spent with good friends and a marvelous collection of historic sports and racing cars.
Wakefield Park greeted us with open arms on Saturday and produced a wonderfully warm and sunny weekend; an extremely pleasant backdrop for a weekend’s racing, tinkering and socialising.
And we took full advantage of it, filling the track with historic racing action that didn’t let up until drivers had had their fill late on Sunday afternoon. The racing was smooth and exciting, and everyone did an excellent job of enjoying their cars and some spirited competition without straying too far beyond the raggedy edge.
As always, it’s a joy to see these lovely old machines out there on the track doing what they do best, so thanks to all of our drivers for their efforts in preparing and racing them so beautifully!
Wakefield Park tends to inspire the most magnificent collections of pre-1930s, ’30s, ’40s and ’50s historic racing and sports cars, and we’ve often held JKL feature events there to great success. This weekend’s event was no exception and our JKL feature was extremely well attended, with some marvelous, rare and famous cars adorning the pits, paddock and track and being put to good use by their drivers in a busy and exciting weekend’s racing.
One of the most excellent aspects of historic racing is the unparalleled access it provides to the pits, paddock, cars and drivers, and this weekend was a stunning example of that. The atmosphere was fun, relaxed and friendly, and it was a joy to explore and chat your way around the grounds of Wakefield Park.
Most importantly, we, and I’m sure everyone involved in the event, would like to extend a huge and heartfelt ‘THANK YOU!’ to all of the organisers, entrants, spectators and especially the volunteers who dedicate such energy and passion to making these events possible. We are extremely grateful for your tireless and selfless support of historic racing and the HSRCA.
As much as we love the cars and racing, it’s good mates, good people and camaraderie that make these events such great fun and so rewarding. So thanks to everyone for coming along, getting involved and putting on an excellent event!
