On Thursday the 17th of September, we’re taking a drive to the Blue Mountains to visit ‘The Gully’, the site of Catalina Park in Katoomba. Why not come along for a run?
Take in some of the winding roads up the old Hawkesbury Road from Richmond to Springwood before catching up at Wentworth Falls Lake at around 11am. There’s a local coffee & cake van operating there with plenty of parking, so we can refuel for part two of the journey and enjoy a catch-up in the sunshine. The address is Sinclair St, Wentworth Falls. Just turn right off the highway at the Grandview Hotel, go through the village, over the railway and first left into Sinclair St – look for the LoveBites Coffee Cart.
We’ll proceed to Catalina Park at 11:45am. The area was designated an Aboriginal Place in 2002 and is now known by its older name ‘The Gully’, featuring displays recounting its history. The circuit has been untouched since the last race and is quietly being reclaimed by nature.
After exploring the area, those who would like to continue on for a little while longer will head to lunch in the local area, with Aliment in Wentworth Falls a leading suggestion.
We’ll need to keep track of numbers, so please send us an email at web@hsrca.com if you’re interested in taking part.
